No one likes to sit down at a table where a cat has just been lying around, or when clumps of fur remain after brushing and washing.
It is not so easy to wean a cat from its age-old habit of lying wherever it wants. Many cat owners still suspect that their pets willingly abuse their absence.
It will take time and patience to wean your pet off a bad habit.
1. First, understand the reasons.
If the table is located by the window, and the animal cannot sit on the windowsill to look out onto the street or bask in the sun, then it simply has no other options.
2. You need to fight the habit after the fact, that is, if you caught the cat by surprise.
If you discover the consequences of lying down an hour or more later, don’t even try to shame your pet.
3. In addition to enlightening conversations with your four-legged friend, create all the conditions so that climbing on the table is scary and uninteresting for him.
In such cases, you can cover the surface with foil, sticky tape, or use citrus essential oils, which animals really don’t like.
4. At the same time, create all the conditions for your pet to start climbing somewhere else – onto the windowsill.
Buy toys, a pet house or a basket.
5. Be sure to maintain discipline.
Cats understand perfectly well what they can and cannot do if their owner insists on it.
They are especially sensitive to emotional prohibitive commands.
