When going for a walk with a dog for the first time, many new pet owners don’t even know how to hold the leash correctly.
Therefore, most owners simply wrap it around their hand, which, according to experts, is not the best possible option.
1. If you are using a long leash for walking that needs to be collected, step back 0.5-1 m from the snap hook and roll the leash into rings all the way to its end.
If the dog is small, you can easily hold it with one hand. Large dogs are best held with two hands - hold the twisted part of the leash with one hand and the tip with the other.
2. Sometimes a dog, having seen something very attractive to it, can jerk sharply, tearing the leash out of your hand.
In this case, it would be a good idea to make a "lock" on the leash. To do this, put the loop on your thumb and squeeze the leash in your palm.
To create a more secure, double lock, you will need to throw another loop over your index finger and squeeze it in your palm.
This fixation allows you to instantly throw the leash off your hand if necessary and, accordingly, not get injured.
3. To get "two in one" - both a long and a short leash, tie a knot on it, stepping back 0.5-1 m from the snap hook. If you need to quickly grab the dog on a short leash, just grab the knot - this way it will not slip on your hand and it will be convenient for you to grab your hands.
