How Cats of Different Breeds Sweat: A Note for Owners

Just like humans, cats can sweat in several cases – both during hot weather and during periods of intense nervous excitement.

Sweat production is determined not so much by the breed as by the thickness of the cat's fur.

Longhaired and shorthaired cats sweat in the same way - their main source of sweat is the eccrine glands, which are located on the pads of their paws, unlike their "naked" counterparts - the sphinxes.

The lack of hair in sphinxes is due to genetic characteristics.

Representatives of this breed sweat all over their bodies.

The intensity of sweating depends solely on the pet itself: its emotional state and health.

Some sphinxes sweat very little, while for others it becomes a serious problem - in this case, pets require special care, which consists of bathing and wiping with a damp cloth.

This can cause some discomfort to the owners, as the animal leaves wet brownish spots on the surfaces where it is located.
