When a dog's tongue hangs out of its mouth, it may be normal.
However, if you notice that your cat is behaving this way – breathing with an open mouth – this is the first sign that it is time for the animal to cool down.
In addition, there are other signs that your pet is suffering from the heat: the animal becomes lethargic, has shortness of breath, and refuses its favorite food.
In this case, the owner needs to take urgent measures.
To ease the cat's suffering, wrap its neck and head with a wet towel.
You can also wet your pet's belly with cool water, since this area contains large blood vessels - this way, the cooled water will spread throughout the body faster.
You should also wet the paw pads, nose and ears with water - the main thing is not to pour liquid inside.
Important: the water should not be icy, since liquid at this temperature can negatively affect the functioning of the heart, and in some cases lead to cardiac arrest.
If you see that your animal is only getting worse, take it to the vet immediately.
