How a cat determines a person's imminent death: 3 things a pet does

It is no secret that cats can save their owners from all sorts of diseases and other similar misfortunes.

With their behavior, the whiskers make it clear that something is wrong with a person’s health.

And besides, our smaller brothers can predict the imminent arrival of death.

The Oscar Phenomenon

Many studies have shown that cats indicate the period of visitation of the scythe-bearer quite accurately.

This typically applies to animals living in high-traffic settings, such as hospitals or nursing homes.

Let's remember Oscar the cat. In 2006, being a "resident" of one of the nursing homes, he would occasionally walk along the corridor and look into a certain room.

But not just like that. There he jumped on the bed of an elderly man and lay next to him for a long time. After some time, the citizen died.

Oscar was almost never wrong. And he made quite a few such predictions.

After this phenomenon, similar behavioral patterns were noticed in other cats. They, like Oscar, accurately determined who would soon leave the world of the living.

Hypotheses

The question arose: how can these four-legged fluffy creatures do all this?

One hypothesis is that cats have the ability to smell the "smell of death."

Scientists explain that cats can detect the barely perceptible smell of certain substances released before death.

And considering the fact that each disease has its own smells, cat owners are advised to pay special attention to their health if their pet suddenly becomes extremely gentle and affectionate.

Peace and quiet

The second hypothesis: before death, a person, as a rule, becomes very weak, moves and speaks much less.

This quiet behavior attracts cats, who are known to be great lovers of peace and quiet.

Therefore, they can choose for their rest the bed of the person they consider the most calm and safe.

Mimicry

The third version: a cat perfectly recognizes even the smallest details in a person’s facial expressions.

Therefore, animals can notice those grimaces of human suffering that others do not see.

It is they who tell the cat that this person will soon go to heaven.

Important: Not all cats make such predictions, so the animal's behavior near a sick person should not be interpreted in this way.

Do not forget that medicine is on guard of our health. If something happens, it is worth contacting a doctor: he will consult and give useful recommendations.
