Why a Dog Is Unlikely to Choose a Teenager as an Owner: There's a Simple Explanation - and the Situation Can't Be Changed

Let's imagine a situation: a teenager has long been asking his parents to buy him a dog.

Mom and dad finally made their son or daughter's dream come true.

A pet has appeared in the house, and it is primarily the minor family member who takes care of it.

The child constantly walks the dog, feeds it, pets it...

However, the four-legged friend still refuses to consider the teenager his master.

This situation is very common. But how can it be explained?

Why a dog is unlikely to consider a teenager its owner

The answer is simple: the pet will definitely pay attention to the hierarchy in the family.

The dog will immediately understand that the child is not the “boss”.

The animal will see that the teenager obeys his parents, often fulfills their requests and does not take on the role of a leader.

A four-legged friend will consider only the “leader of the pack” - the head of the family - as its owner.

This is why it is very difficult for a minor to become the “real owner” of a dog.

But there is no need to be upset. The child should understand that the lack of "owner" status does not mean that the dog is not attached to him.

Earlier it became known what to do if a dog bites its owner.
