Why Cats Often Lay on Pregnant Women's Stomachs: A Clear Explanation

Cat owners may have noticed that cats like to climb on their owners. A pregnant belly is especially attractive to cats.

Our observant ancestors associated this behavior with omens and superstitions, but there is a more logical explanation – even two.

In search of warmth

Cats love warmth, because their normal body temperature is 1.5-2 degrees higher than that of humans. To feel comfortable, they need the room to be at least 23-25 degrees warm.

That's why cats look for warm places where they can settle down: on radiators, windowsills or working computers.

One of these places is the owner's bed, and since pregnant women often spend a lot of time in bed, it turns out that cats climb onto their stomachs - here they feel especially warm and cozy.

An attempt to express sympathy

Cats, no matter how independent they may seem, show sympathy towards their owners, which they try to express by the means available to them.

With the help of intuition, they sense the special state of the woman and as a result begin to pay more attention to her. What is noteworthy is that the habit of lying down on the pregnant belly is most often observed in female cats, not in male cats.

Earlier we talked about why a cat stares at one point.
