Achatina originally lived in the warm and humid conditions of Africa, but over time they spread throughout the world: they can be found in India, Thailand and even some states in the USA.
These creatures boast impressive sizes – they are considered to be among the largest representatives of their species.
Adults can reach 25 centimeters in length, while their shell can grow up to 30 centimeters.
An adult Achatina weighs from 150 to 250 grams. The average lifespan of Achatina at home is from 5 to 10 years.
The snail's diet consists of fiber, which it must obtain from fresh vegetables and fruits, as well as protein, which is found in fish food.
In addition, the terrarium should always contain calcified mineral stone to strengthen and grow the shell.
Young snails should be fed daily, while adults only need to be fed once every 2-3 days.
In this case, it is worth offering “treats” to your pets closer to the evening, as they are especially active at night.
