The basis of a rat's diet is special food, which must be given every day without restrictions.

In addition, you, as the owner, should take care of the rats' food. What products are suitable for this - we have described in detail below.

Plant-based feeding

Vegetable supplementary feeding includes vegetables, fruits, berries and greens. Such "goodies" can be given every day or every other day. 30-40 grams is enough for one rat.

Your pet can eat watermelon, apricot, avocado, pineapple, grapes, cherries, melon, strawberries, cranberries, raspberries, mango, peaches, currants, persimmons, blueberries, apples, basil, zucchini, cilantro, parsley, celery, lettuce, zucchini, pumpkin and dill.

Animal protein

Give your rat meat, eggs, fish, seafood and dairy products 1-2 times a week. 15-20 grams is enough for your pet.

Rats are allowed to be fed with gammarus, zoophobas, seafood, poultry, meat by-products, cat and dog food, yogurt, kefir and fermented baked milk.

Treats

This category includes nuts, crackers, and unsweetened cookies, which can be given, albeit rarely and in small amounts.

Earlier we talked about why cats shouldn’t be given fish.
