Scientists have concluded that cat owners often misinterpret and misunderstand their pets' behavior.

The only thing that almost never makes a mistake is the animal’s joy.

To find out how accurately people understand the behavior of their pets, a scientific experiment was conducted by employees of the University of Paris - Nanterre.

The results of the study are published in the journal Applied Animal Behaviour Science.

Volunteers had to guess the animal's emotions in four categories.

It turned out that the fewest mistakes were made when the cats were in a good mood - more than 90% of the correct answers.

The situation with harassment and predatory behavior was somewhat worse.

And things were not at all good when it was necessary to understand what the cat did not like.

Approximately 30% of the experiment participants were unable to figure out what the animal did not like.

Researchers point out that cats demonstrate their mood through body language.

The most accurate indicator is the tail, flattened ears or widened eyes.

It is also important to pay attention to meowing, purring, hissing, growling, or loud screaming.
