What to feed rats
The rat diet consists of two parts: main food and supplementary food.
The main component of the diet is specialized rat food. It must be given daily, without limiting the amount. Such food can be purchased at any pet store.
Vegetables, fruits, berries and greens, animal protein and a small amount of treats – crackers, unsweetened cookies, nuts, etc. can be used as complementary food.
What you shouldn't give to rats
There are many foods that should not be fed to rats, including the following.
Radishes, beans, turnips and horseradish are foods that can cause bloating in rats.
Fatty, smoked, salted products and semi-finished products - they can also negatively affect the rat's weight and the functioning of its gastrointestinal tract. In addition, they can contain harmful additives and preservatives.
Fast food is also not recommended for rats, as it contains many harmful substances and additives.
