Why do cats feel afraid when they see a vacuum cleaner: what to do to avoid scaring your pet while cleaning

Cats' dislike of vacuum cleaners is quite logical - people are not thrilled with such equipment either: it is too noisy and is designed for cleaning, which is one of the most boring tasks in the world.

However, cats have their own reasons for being afraid of vacuum cleaners – it’s all about their instincts.

It is worth remembering that cats are solitary territorial creatures that hunt and have many natural enemies.

When the noise level in their territory increases, it becomes more difficult for them to hunt and provide themselves with food, as they cannot hear the movement of their prey.

They also associate noise with attacks from enemies. So it is quite natural that cats prefer silence.

To avoid scaring your pet to death, take a few precautions before you start vacuuming.

The easiest way is to kick your pet out of the room before you start cleaning and close the door.

Important: Try not to vacuum when your cat is sleeping. If you can't adjust to your cat's sleep schedule (some pets sleep most of the day), gently wake him up.

And, of course, you shouldn’t turn on the vacuum cleaner or other noisy devices when the cat is eating or doing its business in the litter box.
