It has been noticed that domestic cats, for some reason, go to sleep either at the feet of their owner or near his head.

There are several reasons for this in animals, but experts believe that there are three main ones.

So, let's try to figure out what determines a cat's sleeping place.

First of all, instinct

Obeying their predatory instinct, cats sleep, as they say, with one eye open.

They need this to control the situation, so when choosing a place to sleep, they are guided by safety conditions.

That's why they come to sleep in a person's bed.

Secondly, warmth and comfort

Cats cannot live without a source of heat. Despite their thick fur, their body temperature drops during sleep, and so they are not averse to warming themselves near their owner.

For this simple reason, they may lie down to sleep near the feet because there is more free space there.

Third, gratitude

In gratitude for the care, cats demonstrate their trust and therefore lie down near the head.

It also allows them to mark their owner so that no other animal can encroach on their property.
