Protect your Christmas tree from cats: some valuable tips

Every year at the end of December, cats are given a wonderful opportunity to climb trees without leaving their apartment.

As the saying goes, “who hasn’t had their Christmas tree fall over?” but cat lovers know about this problem firsthand and, in addition to lights and toys, they prepare other kinds of decorations.

Here are some practical tips.

The first piece of advice is scary.

There is nothing easier than placing next to the tree an object that causes sacred horror, seizures and panic attacks in the cat.

For most pets, it's a vacuum cleaner. Some cats are afraid of their owner's hair dryer.

If you leave household appliances near the tree, your pet will not come near it and is unlikely to show up in the room.

Tip two, sticky

However, celebrating the New Year with a vacuum cleaner, even disguised as a New Year's gift, is still a pleasure.

You can spread cling film or tape (sticky side up) under the tree. Cats don't like it when something sticks to them for reasons unknown to them.

By the way, if you are used to putting up a natural tree, then it will be easier to remove the falling needles after the holiday – just roll up the film.

Tip three, aromatic

Cats don't like the smell of citrus fruits, and it's hard to imagine New Year's without the smell of tangerines. Citrus peels under or on the tree won't ruin the festive atmosphere.

You can also use sprays to treat furniture and carpets to prevent pets from scratching them.
