Why Do Cats Respond to "Kitty-Kitty": The Most Probable Theories

As a rule, a cat that runs to its owner who says the cherished “kitty-kitty” receives positive reinforcement in the form of food, affection or play.

This is one of the possible reasons why cats respond readily to this sound.

But, besides it, there are others, no less logical.

Thus, according to another assumption, the cat's reaction to "kitty-kitty" can be explained by the fact that such a combination reminds the animal of natural sounds such as the rustling of grass or the buzzing made by insects.

We cannot ignore the work aimed at studying the perception of sounds by cats.

According to the conclusions made in them, the voiceless soft sounds “k”, “s”, “p” attract the attention of representatives of the cat family when they are pronounced not in words, but separately.

There is also an opinion among researchers that the sound "S" contains many high frequencies when compared to other sounds.

Since the range in which a cat hears is much higher than a human, such sounds are out of the ordinary for it, and it quickly goes to find out where the source of the “noise” is.
