Why a cat is not affectionate: 3 reasons why you will not get tenderness from your pet

Many cat owners, when getting a pet, hope that an affectionate and gentle animal will live in their home.

However, sometimes it happens that the cat avoids any manifestations of love and affection.

And it would be fine if the pet demonstrated such behavior only towards strangers – such “suspicion” is completely justified – but sometimes the pet ignores even its own owner.

Let's find out what this could be connected with.

In fact, there are only three main reasons (except for illness, but here you should contact a veterinarian), and all of them can be dealt with.

1. A cat is unlikely to show affection for a person if it has ever been mistreated or is being mistreated right now. Just imagine - if the animal has been constantly poked by a person, then it will be wary of any attempt to pet it: what if this gesture is followed by pain again?

2. You shouldn't expect affection from a purring cat that has never interacted with a human, i.e. from a feral cat. Such an animal will need a lot of time, and its owner will need persistence, so that it can socialize and get used to the fact that it now has a person who will not let it be harmed and will take care of it.

3. Finally, the reason may be that your pet simply does not like all sorts of "hugs". By the way, such non-lovers of calf tenderness are especially common among representatives of the Siamese and British breeds.
