How to Win a Cat's Trust: Scientists Answer
Every person can earn a cat’s trust, and this is not just empty speculation, but an answer from scientists obtained through long-term research.
The answer was obtained in a two-stage scientific experiment. The main subjects were domestic cats living in apartments.
Scientists have come to the conclusion that anyone can win a cat’s trust, as the scientific journal Science Alert writes.
So, in the first part of the research, 21 cats with their owners were involved. The owners were no further than one meter from their pet. Everything was recorded on surveillance cameras, and psychologists monitored the people's actions.
The owners were asked to squint their eyes and blink slowly.
In response, their cats blinked in exactly the same way.
But scientists decided to check whether cats would react in the same way, but to a stranger. For this purpose, a second stage of the study was conducted, in which 24 cats took part.
Strangers blinked at cats just like their owners did. And then it turned out that some cats responded to the researchers and even extended a paw in response to the scientists' outstretched hand.
In other words, anyone can make friends with a cat.
To do this, you need to relax, squint your eyes slightly, then close them for 1-2 seconds, and after that the cat may blink in response in the same way. And this means that the animal reciprocates your feelings.
