Animals perceive eye-to-eye contact in a completely different way: they certainly don’t consider it a manifestation of love and affection.
The dangers of staring into an animal's eyes
If a person looks straight into a cat's eyes for a long time without blinking, the pet may perceive what is happening as a direct threat.
It is possible that the animal will come to the erroneous conclusion that its owner is ready to attack it.
And this is explained very simply: pets need a lot of time to focus their vision. They believe that other creatures face the same problem. Therefore, a furry creature may decide that a long look from a person is an attempt to study the "rival".
A cat that is being stared at may have instincts that kick in. It is possible that the pet will scratch its owner.
But even if the four-legged friend does not attack the person, the latter should still stop looking into the animal's eyes for a long time. After all, such a look causes stress for the cat.
