Because diseases in rodents develop very quickly, it is important to recognize dangerous symptoms in time.

Otherwise, you risk losing your little pet.

You should start worrying when you notice any sudden changes in your hamster's behavior. These include increased excitability and excessive apathy.

Another warning sign is poor appetite or lack of appetite, as well as thirst or refusal to drink water.

There is clearly something wrong with the hamster's body if there is bloating and bowel movements: diarrhea, constipation, small and rare stools.

When examining your pet, pay attention to the area under the tail – there should be no wet fur there. This sign of illness, by the way, is called “wet tail”.

You should also contact a veterinarian if you notice discharge from the eyes, nose and ears.

This list may also include increased salivation, deterioration of the skin and coat, lumps and swelling on the body.

Do not delay in visiting a doctor if your hamster coughs or sneezes.
