Anti-scratch pads are special silicone pads that are attached to cat claws with glue.
Manufacturers claim that the caps have an anatomical shape and are made from safe materials.
Undoubtedly, such an invention makes life much easier for cat owners – now their pet will not be able to scratch family members or damage furniture or wallpaper with its claws.
And they last a long time - the approximate period of wearing anti-scratch gloves is from 1 to 2 months.
However, claw caps have a number of significant disadvantages.
Firstly, the anti-scratch caps may simply not be liked by the cat, who will not be able to move normally in them and will make every effort to get rid of the hated caps.
Secondly, in this form, the pet can only walk around the house - it cannot be let out on the street, as it may get hurt there.
Thirdly, cats often develop allergies to the scratch-resistant pads themselves or the glue used to attach them to their claws.
And fourthly, if the pads are put on incorrectly or not treated properly, dirt can cause an infection that will cause problems with the claws.
