Can cats be given valerian: not everyone knows about it

You've probably seen how a cat behaves after drinking valerian.

Many people think that this behavior is funny and amusing, but in reality, everything turns out to be quite the opposite - valerian infusion is dangerous for pets.

The smell of the medicine is similar to pheromones contained in the urine of a mature cat, which has an exciting effect on the pet.

Therefore, if valerian has a calming effect on people, then for cats the effect is absolutely the opposite.

However, sometimes veterinarians themselves prescribe this medication to cats.

This can happen when the "hairball" is in a depressed state, does not respond to the environment, refuses to eat, etc.

Thanks to valerian, prescribed in small quantities, it is possible to give the cat vital activity.

But such cases are rare, so let us remind you once again that the drug can only be given to an animal as prescribed by a veterinarian.

If you ignore this condition, you risk harming your cat, for example, by exceeding the permissible dose, which can cause your pet to hallucinate, and this is only in the best case. In the worst case, anything is possible, including death.
