Why a dog growls: it's not always about aggression

Many people perceive the growling of a dog with caution.

It is generally accepted that a pet making such a sound necessarily shows anger and aggression, and shows its readiness to attack.

However, this is not always the case. Sometimes a growling four-legged friend does not threaten the owner at all and does not try to "conquer" the leadership in the house.

Sometimes growling is a dog’s attempt to explain something to its owner, to let him know that some unpleasant situation has arisen.

What can growling mean?

In some cases, a growling pet is trying to explain to a person: “I don’t like doing this or that.”

Another possibility is that the dog is warning that it is experiencing pain when performing one or another command from its owner.

Sometimes growling is an attempt by the dog to “tell” about its fear or insecurity.

In some cases, a growling dog wants to explain to a person: "Don't come near me" or "Don't go near my toys." This does not mean that the dog is aggressive. Perhaps he just wants to protect himself without attacking anyone.

However, it is important to remember that a loud, low sound made by a dog is still a threat and aggression. Therefore, when interacting with a pet, you should be careful.
