Many dog owners believe that a pet licking “its human” is showing love for him.

And this is partly true - this is how a dog shows affection and affection.

Interestingly, scientists have managed to find out that at such moments the animal’s brain releases endorphins, which makes it want to repeat this action again and again.

However, this is not the only reason for such behavior. By licking, sniffing and listening to the owner, the dog also collects information about him.

Since dog saliva has bactericidal properties, there is an opinion that in this way dogs offer their owner “medical services”.

Licking can be seen as a sign of respect and submission - most likely, your pet wants to demonstrate that you are the leader and alpha male here.

This pattern is especially common in families where several dogs are raised at once.

Finally, and quite unexpectedly, a dog may lick you simply because it likes the taste – not yours, of course, but what you ate for lunch.
