Why can't a cat walk past a box?

Many cats cannot respond well to a box, no matter how small or large it is.
Even if the cat won't fit into its improvised shelter, it will still try to do so. But why do cats do this?
Why isn't the owner's bed or couch suitable for them to rest on?
The cat remembers that she was a kitten
As a rule, newborn kittens spend a lot of time in the box, because it is the safest place for them. It is also very warm there. The box is a protected space where the kitten has everything it needs to grow up.
When a cat sees a box, its memory kicks in and it understands that for it, the box is a place where it can relax, where no one will bother it, and where it can sleep peacefully. So, of course, the cat climbs into the box and doesn't want to get out.
The box is protection
For many cats, the box becomes a shelter in which they can hide, at least for a while. If a cat is scared or suffers from stress, of course, it will try to sit out somewhere.
The pet thinks that it is unlikely to find anything better than a box for its rest, because it is closed on all sides, and from it the cat can observe the picture happening in the room.
The cat is just curious
By nature, cats are used to being explorers, they always want to explore the territory, so if some new object appears in the apartment, the cat will not ignore it. The animal needs to understand whether the box poses any threat to it. If not, it will definitely climb into it and appropriate it.
You shouldn't take the box away from the cat if it happily sits in it; perhaps with the help of a new toy the cat will be able to become calmer and more affectionate, and nothing will disturb it.
