How to choose a cat if there is a small child in the house: the most good-natured and patient breeds

Everyone knows that cats are willful, independent and do not tend to tolerate what they do not like. And the attention of a child can bother the pet, because it has its own things to do. It wants to sleep, watch the birds and generally does not like to be hugged or put to sleep in a doll's crib.

In such situations, the pet tries to save itself by resorting to its natural instincts - hissing, scratching and biting. This is quite painful and dangerous even for an adult, not to mention a child.

However, you shouldn't give up on getting a pet. You just need to choose the right breed from among the most patient ones.

Maine Coon

Maine Coons are one of the largest domestic cats. They have beautiful long hair that requires care. But thanks to it, these animals seem even larger and more beautiful. A big plus of the breed is its calm character and ability to easily get along with children.

The Maine Coon will tolerate being hugged, dressed up, and put to bed in a toy bed. He will also happily chase a bow on a string or a ball. And when he gets tired, he will hide where no one will find him and sleep peacefully.

Sphinx

If you don't want to spend time grooming your pet's fur, and generally don't like fluff flying around the apartment during shedding, then a Sphynx is the best solution. These cats are not always completely hairless, but their fur is incomparable to the fluffiness of a Maine Coon or any other cat.

Sphynxes are active enough to play with a child with pleasure. These cats love active games, try to be the center of attention, and rarely show aggression.

If a sphinx doesn't like something, it will rather seize the moment and run away than get into a fight. And they also get along well with dogs. Many have noticed that sphinxes prefer dogs to cats in terms of games and communication.

Abyssinian cat

This flexible, graceful animal is a surprising combination of two opposites.

On the one hand, the Abyssinian cat loves activity. She will happily run, jump, play. And on the other hand, she loves to lie in a quiet place, watching the household. These animals love all family members, are loyal to children, and love to climb higher.

An Abyssinian cat will run around the house with a child, and when she gets tired, she will climb higher, after which she will calmly rest, watching what is happening from above.

When you get a pet in a house where there is a child, you should be prepared to constantly monitor them. A pet can cause serious harm to a child not because of aggression, but simply because it does not understand something.

For example, cats like to climb on top of people, bite them and scratch them. To minimize the risk, it is important to properly educate the cat, explaining what can and cannot be done.
