The habit of taking a shower is highly individual: some people wash themselves immediately after waking up, while others visit the bathroom before going to bed.

There are people who take a shower twice a day - in the morning and in the evening, and there are those who prefer to take a bath every other day.

In 2022, the Sleep Foundation even conducted a survey, which found that there is a fairly even distribution between people who wash in the morning (42%) and those who take a shower or bath in the evening (38%).

It's hard to find studies comparing the two methods, but the benefits of a warm shower (bath) before bed were discovered by scientists long before that, in 2019.

Then they managed to find out that warm water relaxes a person and improves the quality of his sleep. Therefore, if you have difficulty falling asleep, you should try visiting the bathroom 1-2 hours before bed.

Researchers have also found that human circadian rhythms are partly dependent on body temperature, which drops in the evening. Therefore, to convey to the body the signal that it is time to sleep, you can use the help of warm water, which reduces the internal body temperature.

In general, sleep experts recommend enjoying an evening shower or bath to relieve muscle tension and feel calm before bed.

Dermatologists also share this point of view: some of them are sure that it is worth washing before going to bed at least so that dirt from the skin does not get on your bed linen.

But there is another position, according to which a shower in the morning stimulates skin cells and thus gives it a healthy glow.

Finally, one may come across the idea that a quick rinse with cold water helps reduce levels of the stress hormone cortisol, which usually rises in the morning hours.

Therefore, it is up to you to decide what time of day to take a shower.
