Recently, the Sun once again unpleasantly surprised Belarusians, Russians, and, in fact, all the inhabitants of the planet.
A new flare has occurred on the luminary. And not just any flare – a powerful one, of the highest class.
The head of the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Sergei Bogachev, reported this to MIA Rossiya Segodnya.
It is not yet known how the outbreak will affect people, in particular Russians and Belarusians.
At least, the expert finds it difficult to say whether this phenomenon will lead to magnetic storms.
Information has been received about a flare of the highest X-magnitude on the Sun. The explosion began at approximately 10:05 Moscow time, the specialist reported.
And he added: on the side of the Sun facing the Earth, none of the active centers has sufficient energy.
A flare of such power most likely took place in one of the new regions, currently located on the far side of the star, Bogachev said.
This area, he noted, is already partially visible and is moving towards Earth.
The expert did not rule out that active region No. 3664, which previously provoked the G5 magnetic storm (May 10-12), may be returning to the human planet.
It has made a complete revolution around the Sun’s axis and reappears on its visible side, the scientist said.
He noted that it is unlikely that the flare will have an impact on Earth, since the explosive center is still quite far from the Sun-Earth line.
If region #3664, which has retained its energy, is indeed moving towards the blue planet, then the streams of solar matter ejected during the explosion could reach Earth.
According to Bogachev’s forecast, they could arrive to earthlings by June 1.
Previously, a solar flare of the highest magnitude was recorded on May 8.
