Scientists are sounding the alarm: very soon global warming will get out of control

Researchers at the Centre for Environmental Policy at Imperial College London have found out when global warming will get out of control.

They calculate that global temperatures will exceed the safe warming threshold of 1.5 degrees Celsius by 2030.

This was reported by Gazeta.Ru with reference to the journal Nature Climate Change, which published the corresponding study.

According to scientists, in six years the planet will warm up so much that the average temperature will be 1.5 degrees higher than the pre-industrial era level.

And after another two decades, the two-degree mark will be passed. Unless, of course, humanity takes care to minimize the rate of emissions and they remain at current levels.

According to experts, the Earth's remaining "carbon budget" (the amount of carbon dioxide that can be released into the atmosphere without harming the climate) is 250 billion tons of CO2.

Scientists say that currently about 40 billion tons of carbon dioxide are emitted into the atmosphere every year.

However, it is noted that the study may contain inaccuracies due to the impact of methane and other greenhouse gases.

Another question that remains unclear is how the planet's different climate systems will respond to rising temperatures.
