Our ancestors planted trees near their houses for a reason. Each of them was a kind of amulet, protecting from misfortunes and bringing good luck.

You could always gain strength, wisdom and patience from them, ask for wishes to come true. But most importantly, they were reliable amulets in the most difficult moments.

What trees are capable of possessing such power?

Birch

Some believed that birches were nothing more than girls' souls. Others believed that spirits hid in their branches and protected their homes from evil people. And some planted a birch tree in the yard when a girl was born: it was believed that the tree contained the feminine essence.

During illness, a birch tree can take on the entire illness, freeing a person from it. To do this, it is enough to wash the sick person with water and splash it on the tree trunk with the words: "The tree will not die, and the sick person will be healed."

But the birch tree was especially useful for those who were energetically exhausted. It was enough to go up to the tree, hug it and stand like that for 10 minutes (or longer).

Viburnum

According to custom, it was forbidden to cut down the viburnum, because this tree was always considered almost sacred. Its white flowers were the personification of tenderness and innocence. And girls often asked the viburnum tree for a betrothed with the words: "Red viburnum, all beautiful, allow me, also beautiful, to find delight for my soul and heart."

To get rid of possible damage, viburnum berries were collected and laid out in the corners of the girl's bedroom. Sometimes branches were hung in the corners of the room. After this, the evil eye dissolved by itself. Viburnum was also recommended to be planted under the window of a child's room to protect the baby from all evil.

Newlyweds decorated their bedroom with viburnum bunches before their first wedding night. Incidentally, the bride often placed a couple of berries directly under her lover's pillow. It was believed that this guaranteed a long and happy marriage.

Hazel

Our ancestors associated this tree with the god Veles and it was truly magical. For example, lightning never struck the hazel tree, which is surprising.

People often turned to the tree for advice, came to just sit near it, think about this and that. And if a baby was born in the family, to protect against a possible evil eye, they walked around its cradle with a burning hazel twig and said: "My child is under protection, my child is under supervision."

Maple

A truly peace-loving tree! Newlyweds, and even experienced couples, tried to walk through the maple grove to absorb the beneficial energy of this tree and ask it for peace in the family. This could be done with the words: "Maple, protect, shield from troubles and quarrels." And so at least ten times!

Maple branches were picked by those who had a restless life, full of worries. In this sense, today maple is useful to everyone - the modern generation has too many worries. Its leaves can be dried, so as not to pick fresh ones every time. After all, the tree needs to be protected, it is alive!

Rowan

Red rowan berries have always been associated with feminine energy, and for good reason. Rowan is truly considered a “feminine” tree. It helps to share the bitterness of lost love, gives attractiveness, prolongs youth. Face masks were often made from the berries, and they were applied with the saying: “I will be beautiful – I will never forget the rowan berry!”
