Wendy was shopping as usual when she heard a voice in her head. She later described it as "creepy and scary." The voice advised the woman to buy something and play the lottery, The Sun reports.
Hester bought a $10 scratch-off ticket, a little hesitant because she had a car loan on her. When she got home, she scratched off the protective layer and realized she had won $1 million.
Wendy chose to take the entire amount at once rather than cheat to reduce the tax burden. In the end, with all the deductions, she ended up with $427.5 thousand.
Hester believes that winning is not an accident, but a gift from above. The woman decided to use the jackpot to pay off her car loan and buy a new home.
