Residents of some areas of the Belarusian capital have been warned: tap water may turn green.

And for those who have already noticed a similar phenomenon, experts advise not to panic, since they have an explanation.

In particular, the Minskenergo press service notified city residents about what was happening, assuring that “everything is under control.”

It is stated that green water may flow from the taps of residents of the Leninsky, Zavodsky, Sovetsky and Pervomaysky districts.

Why? Because from November 11 until the end of the heating season, "a special dye - fluorescein - will be added to the network water of heating network pipelines."

Representatives of the company explained that this water coloring is carried out in order to promptly detect leaks and illegal use of the coolant.

This method is also used to check the tightness of water heaters.

Minskenergo assures that fluorescein is absolutely safe for human health and is approved for use in accordance with the requirements of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance Service.

On the company's website, Minsk residents can see the addresses where green water is likely to appear.
