In Minsk, starting this month, drivers who violate the rules of stopping and parking will automatically receive “letters of happiness.”
Not a person, but a smart intelligent system in this mode will be engaged in sending out the corresponding notifications.
In addition, at the same time it is “undergoing training” to detect driving through an intersection on a red light.
In the future, a system based on artificial intelligence will help solve the problem of traffic jams on the Moscow Ring Road.
In terms of driving through a red light, the system is being tested at the intersection of M. Bogdanovich Street and Shiroka Street.
The work is carried out by employees of the Republican Public Safety Monitoring System and the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate, writes the publication Belarus Segodnya.
It is planned that control in this area will be carried out in a fully automatic mode.
As reported by the deputy head of the capital's traffic police, Denis Livanovich, the program independently monitors which traffic light signal is on when a vehicle enters an intersection and when it crosses the stop line.
After processing the collected information, a captured violation is automatically issued in the form of several screenshots and a video recording of the moment from various angles, he noted.
The number of cameras involved in the system's operation depends on the specific intersection and the number of violations that are planned to be detected automatically.
Thus, to control entry into a public transport lane or the presence/absence of a compulsory insurance contract, a few cameras will be needed.
But if we are talking about driving through a red light, then cameras will be needed not only at the intersection, but also on the approach to it, as well as at a distance, the deputy chief explained.
By the way, AI-based technologies are so effective that they allow recording violations related to driving through a red light with virtually no errors.
Among other things, the system is trained to recognize license plates, which allows it to identify violations such as lack of technical inspection, insurance, driving in public transport lanes, etc.
Starting this month, it will begin sending out “letters of happiness” to violators of stopping and parking rules,” Livanovich added.
According to him, ten zones have been identified in Minsk in which this category of violators will be automatically identified.
They are located in the area of large transfer hubs, sports complexes and facilities of national importance, the traffic police representative specified.
And this same system will soon record violations of the rules for crossing railway crossings in the Minsk region.
In the future, the goal is to identify violators who move through areas where they are prohibited.
In particular, they will control bikers (they are not allowed to drive along Nezavisimosti Avenue and Lenin Street at night) and truck drivers (driving along the capital’s central avenues is prohibited).
It is worth knowing that the intelligent system can also recognize faces, which allows identifying drivers who have been deprived of their license for drunk driving.
This means that if a car driven by an unlicensed person is spotted by a camera integrated into the system, the latter will issue a corresponding notification.
