An unusual criminal incident occurred in the Belarusian capital. The main defendant in the criminal case was a foreigner.

This man, having quarreled with his Belarusian wife, stole a car in which he planned to return to his homeland.

The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic reported the incident on its official Telegram channel.

According to the data released by the department, a resident of Minsk contacted the police, reporting that his mother’s car, which was parked in the yard of the house, had disappeared.

Law enforcement officers established that this car was stolen by a 30-year-old citizen of another country.

A foreigner left Minsk in someone else’s car and headed towards the state border.

The operatives passed the information on to their colleagues from the customs and border committees, who detained the hijacker while attempting to cross the checkpoint, the ministry noted.

It turned out that the day before this man had quarreled with his wife (a citizen of Belarus), with whom he lived in the Minsk region.

In a state of disarray, the man decided to immediately return to his homeland.

In one of the courtyards of the capital I noticed a car: it was not locked, and the keys were inside.

Without thinking twice, the suspect got behind the wheel and headed for the border. Having arrived there, he abandoned the car and tried to leave Belarus by hitchhiking.

A criminal case has been opened against the man regarding the theft, the press service summed up.
