It recently became known that experimental road markings have appeared on the Minsk Ring Road.
The press service of the capital's State Traffic Inspectorate reported this on its official Telegram channel.
The agency notes that these markings will help drivers estimate the distance to the vehicle moving in front.
Please note: in the area of Independence Avenue, “arrows” are applied to the third traffic lane of the inner and outer rings.
Thanks to them, as the report says, drivers will be able to better navigate the traffic situation.
In addition to the markings, corresponding information boards will also be installed on the Moscow Ring Road, the State Traffic Inspectorate added.
As for the markings, two “arrows” to the car in front mean that the distance is safe.
The press service clarified: the distance between the “arrows” was calculated taking into account the safe distance at the permitted speed.
Such a speed that, in the event of an emergency, will allow a collision to be avoided by applying emergency braking.
The State Traffic Inspectorate pointed out the fact that the location on the Moscow Ring Road for the new markings was chosen based on an analysis of road accidents.
That section of the ring road – in the area of the overpass from Independence Avenue – is characterized by frequent accidents due to drivers failing to maintain a safe distance.
The State Traffic Safety Inspectorate informs: this experiment will last for several months.
If during this time the markings demonstrate their effectiveness, they will be applied to other areas as well.
