Minsk residents wanted to find employment via the Internet and became victims of fraud.
The press service of the Main Department of Internal Affairs of the Minsk City Executive Committee reported this on Telegram.
Over the course of a week, 10 people who became victims of online fraud applied to the Oktyabrsky District Department of Internal Affairs of Minsk with statements about fraud.
All the victims wanted to find employment in an online casino or a home goods store.
As one of the applicants said, his friend found him a part-time job in a thematic messenger group and gave him the manager’s contacts.
A girl contacted the applicant and offered him a vacancy at an online casino. Then the man was sent a questionnaire and invited to an interview.
He was also convinced to install a corporate application, supposedly for working with the client base.
As a result of such manipulations, notifications and text messages, including SMS codes from banks, began to be redirected to the application without being reflected on the Minsk resident’s device.
Other applicants were deceived in a similar way. They later learned that the fraudsters used their personal data to open accounts to withdraw funds from the deceived people. An investigation is underway into these facts.
