Very soon the Belarusian capital will celebrate City Day – the main events will take place on Saturday, September 14.
Minsk police will pay increased attention to issues of ensuring security and order.
In particular, checkpoints will be in operation at the sites of mass celebrations, some of which will have orange roofs.
There will also be storage lockers, and you will be able to see horse patrols on city streets.
In general, the capital's law enforcement officers will be on duty in an enhanced mode.
Belta reports this with reference to a statement by the head of the Department for Law Enforcement and Prevention of the Public Safety Police of the Main Directorate of Internal Affairs of the Minsk City Executive Committee, Sergei Gorokhov.
According to him, the main holiday locations have already been determined.
These places will be inspected and taken under control by foot police units on September 14.
In locations where the presence of more than 500 people is expected, checkpoints will be in operation, which will prevent free passage with prohibited items (piercing, cutting, dummy weapons, glass containers, etc.).
Also under special police control will be:
- green area at the intersection of Masherov and Pobediteley Avenues (a historical reconstruction festival will be held there);
– Sports Palace area (sports events).
The representative of the Main Directorate of Internal Affairs noted that not only their own services and units will be involved, but also the mounted police patrol.
Citizens will be allowed to enter the Sports Palace through 8 checkpoints and 42 checkpoints, and to the Upper City through 6 and 15, respectively.
Sergei Gorokhov noted that the checkpoints will be ready for work from seven o'clock on Saturday morning.
And for veterans, parents with children, and disabled people, checkpoints will be marked in orange.
In addition, three storage lockers will be opened near the Sports Palace, which will also be marked, the law enforcement officer reported.
He added: access to the venues where festive events are taking place with bicycles, scooters and scooters will be limited.
