The VKM HOLDING company, better known to the general public as Belkommunmash, has begun assembling new electric buses and trams.
The first batch is expected to arrive in the Belarusian capital soon. They say that Minsk residents will find Wi-Fi and climate control in this transport.
In particular, the Minsk-Novosti agency writes about this, noting that several tram cars are being assembled right now.
Turquoise trams will be running in Minsk, and the red ones will be exported, noted Deputy General Director for Production Dmitry Parkov.
According to him, by the end of this year the company will deliver 20 new trams to the capital.
The main difference from the trams that are currently running around the city is that the new ones are completely low-floor.
For the comfort of passengers, we have created a new, innovative body design, the specialist said.
Another innovation he named was the solution first used in Minsk – autonomous tram travel for up to a kilometer, which is very useful if, for example, the contact network breaks.
By the way, the T811 model is already being delivered to Russia, and residents of Mozyr see it on the streets of their city. Soon they will see it in Minsk and Vitebsk.
Parkov points out that this model has the ability to install an unmanned control system.
The specialist also pointed out that, thanks to the materials and technologies used, such a tram can be used for at least three decades.
In addition to the low floor throughout the cabin, to ensure ease of boarding and disembarking passengers with disabilities, a ramp and a driver call button were installed near the second door, he said.
He also reported on the spacious storage area.
It can simultaneously accommodate a person with limited mobility or with a baby carriage, as well as a passenger with a bicycle or dog.
Among other interesting points: the tram is equipped with air conditioning, multimedia, passenger flow accounting and automatic fire extinguishing systems.
It has USB ports for charging phones, Wi-Fi, GPS, and the door system is equipped with sound and light signaling of the door movement modes.
The shape of the front and rear mask of this tram model is designed in such a way that if a pedestrian gets hit by a tram, he will be thrown to the side and not under the wheels.
The design of the mirrors provides a 100% view of passengers boarding and disembarking, as well as the “blind spot” in front of the tram, the top manager assured.
He also noted that the carriage is equipped with a video surveillance system: one camera monitors the situation on the road, the other “keeps an eye” on the driver.
The company will also supply 10 new modern electric buses E433 of the Vitovt series to Minsk.
Parkov promises that this electric bus will be more comfortable for passengers compared to previous models.
According to him, the car is equipped with air conditioning and climate control systems.
Charging time from 30% does not exceed 10 minutes, and the power reserve is up to 15 km, the specialist added.
Just like the tram, the electric bus has video surveillance systems, USB ports, storage areas, etc.
A representative of VKM HOLDING stated that the capital will continue to receive new equipment next year – approximately 150 units of electric buses, trams and trolleybuses with autonomous running.
