A perfectionist is someone who does everything carefully, who tries to achieve precision in everything. It would seem that there is nothing wrong with this, that such an individual can correctly solve any problem.
Many rely on him because of this, count on him. Yes, for those around him such an individual will be a godsend. He will be an excellent subordinate, an executor. But for him all these advantages will not be the only consequences of the peculiarity.
It may turn out that perfectionism will harm a person. This will manifest itself in several things.
A perfectionist often has a habit of comparing himself to others. He sees those who are more successful and understands that he has not achieved anything similar.
He will reproach himself, gnaw at himself from within for this, will force himself to doubt his abilities. The individual will hardly think that today's successful people also made mistakes, suffered defeats.
A perfectionist may try to avoid such things at any cost. It will seem to him that he will only discredit himself with them, that he will lose his reputation because of them. He will do everything carefully, will show meticulousness where it is not needed at all.
In such a situation, a person will procrastinate, will miss a lot of opportunities. He will hardly be able to realize his potential. Even simple joys will pass him by, due to which he will not be able to enjoy the fruits of his labor.
It will be obvious in a perfectionist. He will not think about what exactly he is doing, he will not notice anything in the process of work. Due to this, he will lose contact with the outside world, he will only worry about what will happen later.
As a result, he may become exhausted, may lose joy, interest in life. In such a case, no results, even if they are impressive, will allow him to truly rejoice.
Such problems are serious, the perfectionist knows it. But in his life he does not always notice them, and therefore does not try to solve them, does not try to make his lot easier.
