A Belarusian family became victims of scammers who offered a holiday in Egypt on a social network.
A 49-year-old resident of Lida, her husband and son were injured. They were planning to vacation in the aforementioned African country.
As reported by the press service of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee's Internal Affairs Directorate on its official Telegram channel, a woman from Lida found the BILETY_RB account through Instagram*.
There were corresponding tours offered there at a good price.
Having contacted the service representatives, the woman subsequently communicated with them via Viber.
Citizens who introduced themselves as employees of a travel agency stated that the main office of their company was allegedly located in Grodno.
For this reason, the resident of the regional center was unable to come in person and discussed the terms of the trip through the specified messenger.
This led to the Belarusian woman making three payments to the company’s representative from September 21 to 23 for a total of 7,100 rubles.
After that, the woman stopped communicating. Realizing that she had been deceived, she contacted the police.
A criminal case has been opened on the fact of fraud.
The police department noted that the woman also stated that she had previously purchased travel packages through the aforementioned social network, but that everything ended well.
