A student at a school in the village of Balagansk in the Irkutsk region attacked his classmates with a hammer and a knife.
The incident happened during a break. When the boys were preparing for a physical education lesson, one of them, armed with a hammer and a knife, attacked the others.
According to preliminary data, three children were injured, TASS news agency reported , citing law enforcement agencies.
They have minor injuries. The attacker was neutralized by the physical education teacher.
Later, information emerged that the 13-year-old attacker was undergoing a medical examination with injuries.
It is reported that the young man injured himself. It is not yet known whether it was accidental or intentional.
The Investigative Committee opened criminal cases on the fact of attempted murder of two or more minors and on the fact of negligence.
The regional prosecutor's office is currently conducting an inspection of the implementation of legislation on education and ensuring safe conditions for students and teachers.
As for the aggression shown by the schoolboy, the motives for his actions are currently being investigated, the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for the Irkutsk Region reported .
The schoolboy had not previously been on preventive registers, and no reports were received by the police about the family, the department noted.
