There were floods in Poland.
Natural disasters affected the southern, southwestern and western parts of the European country.
More than seven hundred settlements with a total population of almost 2.4 million people were in the flood zone.
TASS reported this with reference to a statement by Jan Grabec, head of the Polish Prime Minister’s office.
The number of people directly affected by the disaster is about 57,000.
It is also known that more than 6,000 people were evacuated.
Infrastructure and households suffered severe damage.
The latter is valued at more than $1 billion.
The statement about the damage from the floods was made during a meeting of the crisis headquarters in Poland.
The current head of the Polish government, Donald Tusk, took part in the event.
Maciej Awiżen, who is the head of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, said that the preliminary damage was estimated at 3.832 billion Polish zlotys. This is more than 1 billion US dollars.
Moreover, it is emphasized that there is still no data on damage from the natural disaster in a number of areas.
