In connection with the fuel oil spill in the Black Sea, a federal state of emergency has been declared in Krasnodar Krai.
Before this, a regional emergency regime was in effect.
The change of status was initiated by the head of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, Alexander Kurenkov.
As the department’s press service reported on its Telegram channel, the minister voiced the proposal in Anapa.
A meeting of the government commission on the prevention and elimination of emergency situations and ensuring fire safety was held in this city.
He also reported that the situation in the region is currently under control, and specialists are working in many areas.
The head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations said that, together with his colleague from the Ministry of Natural Resources, he checked the progress of the cleanup of the coastal pollution in the Anapa region.
Kurenkov noted: the volume of relevant work is large.
Currently, the collection and loading of contaminated soil continues in the region.
Units of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, the Marine Rescue Service, territorial subsystems of the RSChS, and volunteers have been involved, the speaker said.
To date, about 30,000 tons of contaminated sand and soil have been collected from the affected areas.
More than 23,000 tons of such sand and soil were removed to landfills.
According to Kurenkov, 295 square kilometers of water area in the Kerch Strait have been surveyed, and over 29,000 square kilometers have been processed.
450 meters of boom barriers were also installed there.
And in the port of Anapa, about 5 squares of the coastline were treated, volunteers saved 1,154 birds.
Currently, more than 10,000 people and 360 units of equipment are eliminating the consequences of the fuel oil spill in the Krasnodar region.
According to the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the introduced federal emergency regime allows for the use of additional forces and resources of federal authorities and state corporations.
It also allows “to provide the necessary financial assistance to affected entities from the government’s reserve fund,” Kurenkov summed up.
