Elderly Belarusian hit by train in Baranovichi
The tragedy occurred on Saturday morning, November 16, in the city of Baranovichi in the Brest region of Belarus.
There, an elderly man was hit by a train while crossing the railroad tracks. Unfortunately, he did not survive.
The press service of the Investigative Committee of the Republic reported the incident on its official Telegram channel.
According to the data released by the department, the incident occurred at the regional center’s railway station.
As a result of the train collision, an 84-year-old local resident was fatally injured, the report says.
It has been preliminarily established that several people managed to cross the tracks in front of the train that was moving at that moment.
The pensioner followed them. He did not hear the sound of the approaching train because he had hearing problems.
An investigative task force was working at the scene of the tragedy.
The Baranovichi Interdistrict Department of the Investigative Committee is conducting an investigation into the incident and all the circumstances are being clarified.
Investigators are paying special attention to the causes and conditions that contributed to the tragedy, the Investigative Committee concluded.
