Driver fell asleep in Tolochin district: mother and son died

A fatal road accident occurred on Friday morning, November 29, in the Tolochin district of the Vitebsk region of Belarus.

The driver of a passenger car fell asleep while driving. The car crashed into a truck. Two people died.

The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic reported about the incident on its official Telegram channel.

According to information released by the department, the accident occurred at the 503rd kilometer of the M1 Brest-Minsk-Russian border highway.

At the specified time, a Volkswagen car was driving there, driven by a 54-year-old driver.

According to preliminary information, he fell asleep at the wheel, as a result of which the car crashed into the semi-trailer of a road train with a Mercedes tractor following in the same direction.

Two passengers in the car died in the accident: a 44-year-old woman and her 21-year-old son.

Traffic police officers, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and an investigative task force were working at the scene of the tragedy.

In connection with the incident, law enforcement officers once again reminded drivers about the inadmissibility of driving a car while sick or tired.
