Double Murder 25 Years Ago Solved in Vitebsk
A double murder committed a quarter of a century ago has been solved in Vitebsk.
The suspects have been detained and taken into custody, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported on Telegram.
How a 25-year-old murder was solved in Vitebsk
In December 1999, the bodies of a 38-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds were found at their place of residence in the regional center.
The couple, who were involved in illegal currency trafficking, kept large sums of money in their apartment.
It was not possible to find the criminals or witnesses at that time, but work in this direction continued.
This year, law enforcement officers received information about possible suspects.
In cooperation with the Investigative Committee and the State Forensic Committee, a number of activities were carried out, as a result of which the involvement of three previously convicted Vitebsk residents in the murder was confirmed. At the time of the murder, they were 20, 21 and 39 years old.
One of them was previously convicted of murder, the other of robbery and theft, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
With the forceful support of the riot police, the suspects were detained. They are currently in custody.
