A resident of Belarus living in the city of Baranovichi (Brest region) attempted to export almost 19 tons of non-ferrous metal from the country.

His business failed because at some point the man had to deal with law enforcement.

The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic reported this story on its official Telegram channel.

According to the data released by the department, officers of the BEP and GAI units of the Borisov District Department of Internal Affairs stopped a truck near the agro-town of Loshnitsa.

The driver, a 49-year-old resident of Baranovichi, was unable to provide documents for the cargo he was transporting.

According to him, he wanted to deliver the scrap metal to neighboring Russia and then sell it.

An administrative protocol was drawn up against the driver for violating the procedure for exporting scrap and waste ferrous and non-ferrous metals from the country.

By the way, this citizen had previously been held accountable for a similar offense.

As for the current story, scrap metal worth a total of over 77,000 rubles was confiscated from him, the ministry noted.
