A large forest fire continues to rage in the Polesie forestry enterprise of the Stolin district of the Brest region.

It broke out the day before, on Monday, September 16. Rescuers and forestry workers continue to fight the fire.

An operational headquarters has been created to develop and make decisions on extinguishing the fire.

It included representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and forestry, the press service of the Brest regional department of the ministry reported .

It is reported that 38 units of equipment and 121 people are currently working at the site, including 23 people and 6 units of equipment from the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Two helicopters of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (Mi-8 and Mi-17) were used to extinguish the fire from the air, the press service noted.

In addition, a Mi-2 helicopter is used to monitor the current situation.

Based on the results of today's (September 17) aerial monitoring of the location where the fire is raging, it was established that there is no open combustion.

By 11 a.m. on September 17, aviation had carried out 55 water drops, the Ministry of Emergency Situations summarized.
