Train derails in Belgorod region
Early on Wednesday morning, September 11, information was received about a very serious emergency in the Belgorod region of Russia.
There, in the Novooskolsky urban district, a freight train derailed.
The region's governor, Vyacheslav Gladkov, informed the general public about this on his Telegram channel.
According to the head of the regional administration, the cause of the incident was “illegal interference in the operation of railway transport.”
As a result, “a locomotive and several empty freight cars derailed,” the civil servant reported.
According to the information he provided, no one was injured in the incident.
Passenger trains passing through this section have been sent on a detour, the governor noted.
Gladkov also reported that at present (the post was published at 06:22 am) information regarding the consequences of the incident is being clarified.
According to him, emergency services are working at the scene.
