A major fire is raging in the Belarusian Polesie region. State Forest Protection Service employees and Emergencies Ministry aviators are involved in fighting the fire.
In particular, aviation is being used to extinguish a fire in the Polesie forestry enterprise on the territory of the Olmanskiye Marshes national reserve.
As the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported on its official Telegram channel, extinguishing the fire is complicated by the lack of access roads and the swampy nature of the area.
Two Emergencies Ministry helicopters (Mi-8 and Mi-17) are being used to fight the fire from the air over an area of about 70 hectares, the post says.
The press service of the Ministry of Forestry reported on its Telegram channel that the fire in the Polesie forestry enterprise has been under control for the second day already.
More than a hundred forestry workers continue to extinguish the fire in the Polesie forestry enterprise in the Olmany swamps, the publication says.
According to the deputy head of the organization for ideological work of the Brest State Fire and Rescue Organization, Tatyana Samoylovich, 26 units of equipment are involved in extinguishing the fire:
– 5 tractors with plows;
– 9 all-terrain vehicles;
– 4 fire trucks;
– 8 units of other equipment (UAZs, etc.).
As for people, 110 people are extinguishing the fire, 25 of whom are colleagues from the forestry enterprises of the Gomel State Forestry and Forestry Organization who arrived to help.
According to the specialist, not only the employees of the state forest protection service of the Polesie forestry enterprise, but also the employees of the Luninets, Ivatsevichi experimental, Telekhansky, and Stolin forestry enterprises of the Brest region are fighting the fire.
