Rescuers have found a Mi-8 helicopter that went missing in Kamchatka, MIA " Russia Today " reports, citing the region's Minister of Emergency Situations, Sergei Lebedev.

According to preliminary information, the helicopter crashed, the report said.

The regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations clarified that the wreckage of the Mi-8 was spotted from the air at an altitude of 900 meters near the place where the pilots last made contact.

At the moment, there is no information about the fate of the passengers and crew members on board.

The plane took off from a landing strip in the Vachkazhets mountain range and was heading to the village of Nikolaevka in the Yelizovsky district.

However, he did not arrive at his destination, and the pilots stopped communicating.

There could have been 22 people on board – 19 passengers and 3 pilots.

A criminal case has been opened regarding the violation of traffic safety rules and the operation of air transport.
